Rodrigues Island is found 560 km from north east of Mauritius, the island make 104 km² the highest peak is 398 m from the level from the sea. Rodrigues itself is surrounded by 9 islets.

Discovered in February of the year 1538, Rodrigues was named after his founder Diego Rodriguez. The island was visited by the French Francois Leguat in 1691 and later by the English colony in 1809. In 1968 Mauritius (the nearest island to Rodrigues which was occupied by English) gained its independence and since Rodrigues considered as its 10th District and has been dependent from it. Through the dependent of Mauritius since 1968, in the year 2002 Rodrigues got its Autonomy and it is since then under the governance of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly, which is situated in the Capital of the island. Politically Rodrigues is stable and the island remains a safe destination.

The Rodriguan Island is mostly mountainous with its various valleys and hills. However, it is important to note that this characteristic of the island is that make its authenticity since it has gifted with a magnificent fauna and flora. Its dark blue lagoon ’wide and wonderful’ as often described, is twice the size of the island.
The population of Rodrigues is estimated at about 38000 inhabitants. Being a multicultural society, the origins come mostly from Africa but also from china, Europe, muslin (India). The language spoken is Creole, French and English.

There are only two seasons in Rodrigues, namely summer (from November to April) and winter (June to September) the advantage of such is that people can go to the seaside all the year, the hottest temperature is around 28 to 35 degree and the coolest between 15 to 22degree.

It is however important to point out that in spite of the constant development in new technologies and modernization going through around the world, Rodrigues remains one of the rarest destinations who have been able to preserve its authenticity either in the beauty or in the warmth and generosity of the welcome of the Rodrigues.
